Google recently released into labs the ability to have nested labels within Google mail. This has been a long awaited feature, especially with organisations used to using deeply nested folder structures to organise mail.

The great news is that the Cloud Google Migrator supports nested labels straight out of the box. When a label is applied to a message by the migration tool, the folder structure of the folders containing the message is used for the label. For example, if a message was in a folder called ‘Customers’ and that folder was a sub-folder of ‘Support’, then a label of ‘Support/Customers’ will be created in Google mail. This is the exact same format that is required to support nested labels – all that needs to be done, after a migration with the default label settings – is to enable nested labels within the Google labs settings.

Of course, the Cloud Google Migrator can also create one label per folder for messages, so in the example above the message would have labels of both ‘Customers’ and ‘Support’.

However you want to create your message labels in migrated messages, we have you covered.

Version 1.5.5.3 of the Cloud Google Migrator is now available from our download pages. This release is a minor release that brings a few enhancements and a couple of fixes to the tool.

The full list of changes since 1.5.5.0 includes:

New Features

Enhanced connection tester/diagnostic dialog (see here for more info)

Added current configuration file and current user file information to ‘Users’ tab

Preserve ‘private’ status of appointments for GroupWise and Exchange

Optionally flash Windows taskbar on migration completion

Optionally play sound on migration completion

Changed default export method for GroupWise to ‘Alternative’

Added ability to explicitly export all GroupWise group members, overriding exported address book
settings (turn on ‘Migrate All Group Members’)

GroupWise distribution list/group members without email addresses are still added to groups

Minor UI tweaks

Fixes

Ensure migration statistics always display, even when ‘Record Successes’ is turned off

Ensure ‘date’ header is present in all Exchange messages

Use an alternate method of examining Exchange folders to workaround incorrect folder attributes that
could prevent some folders being migrated in some circumstances

If you have an existing installation of the tool, then you will be required to recreate the database that the tool uses to perform migrations. The tool will inform you of the steps needed to perform this if it detects the schema in use by the database is not up to date.

Download a trial of the tool now from our download area.
