Cloud Technology Solutions are delighted by the success of the first Google Cloud Platform (GCP) User Group Meetup in the North West, where over 60 guests joined us at our head office in Manchester for an evening of beer, pizza and a lot of GCP talk.

The GCP NW User Group is designed not only to demonstrate how to get the most out of the platform and the technical benefits organisations have gained from moving to the platform, but also to create a much-needed North West GCP community for platform users and those seeking to understand the platform.

The meetup began with an introduction and update from our GCP Technical Lead Chris Cox. This was followed by a slot from Google Engineer, John Whitaker who offered first hand insights into the big data and ML capabilities of the platform and an interactive demo that combines a whack-a-mole machine with GKE/Kubernetes. Ben Cope from Intel, round things off with a look out how their technology is helping to turbo-charge your GCP workloads.

Guests had the opportunity to see demonstrations and learn more about the platform, as well as chatting with other users and GCP engineers to find out how to utilise their data and platform.

Before, in between, and after presentations, there was plenty of opportunity for networking with other fellow users whilst enjoying beer and pizza.

We’ve received some fantastic feedback about the event:

“Interesting talk, good pizza and the office space is looking great, I’m looking forward to the next one.”

“Great talks & good office space.”

“Good atmosphere, lovely people – I’ve already signed up to the next one.”

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those that came along and made such a successful and enjoyable event.

The meet up is suitable for anyone looking to understand more about Google’s public cloud platform or for those who work in a Cloud focussed role and just want to find out a little bit more on what GCP is all about. We’re already looking forward to the next meet up, which will be on 23rd April, if you’d like to join us, please sign up here.
